Political Showdown as MP Kawaya Takes on DG Mwangangi

A political storm is brewing in Machakos County as Mwala MP Vincent Kawaya and Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi lock horns over security lights in Mwala.

DG Mwangangi had accused Kawaya of erecting unnecessary security lights even in uninhabited areas, warning that the county could be saddled with massive electricity bills in the coming years.

According to Mwangangi, the financial burden will eventually fall on Machakos County, something he strongly opposes.

However, MP Kawaya has hit back, questioning why the Deputy Governor is concerned about future costs when he may not even be in office by then.

“He is speaking about the future and the way things are going in Machakos he might not be there to take the bill,” said Kawaya.

Speaking in Mwala, Kawaya dismissed the concerns and dared the county government to refuse to pay the bill if they believed it was their responsibility.

“I want to announce here today that if the county is responsible for the electricity, then don’t pay, and let’s see what will happen,” Kawaya declared defiantly.

The heated exchange has further fueled political tensions in Machakos, with both leaders standing their ground as residents watch closely to see how the standoff unfolds.
