Oga Obinna Served with Demand Letter After Emotional Sammy Kioko Interview

Steve Thompson Magana, popularly known as Oga Obinna, could face legal action if he fails to comply with demands from the Machakos County Government issued in a letter dated Wednesday .

The directives follow an appearance by comedian-turned-entrepreneur Sammy Kioko on Oga Obinna’s live show, Obinna Show, on Monday, 10th November 2025.The episode, themed “When Politics Crushes Dreams”, saw Kioko recount his struggle to receive payments owed to him by the Machakos County Government for supplies.

During the emotionally charged interview, Obinna requested Kioko to provide evidence of the supply documents and reached out to several prominent leaders, including Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, former Nairobi Governor Gideon Mbuvi Sonko, and Wiper Party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, in an effort to resolve the matter.

In response, the County Government, through its Solicitor Juliet Nthambi, issued Obinna a demand letter requiring him to provide evidence to support claims made on the show. The letter stated that allegations that the county failed to pay Kioko were unfounded and clarified that Kamba leaders mentioned on the show have no role in county operations. It further warned that failure to provide supporting documents could result in legal action for publishing false and misleading information.

“This letter is therefore to demand that you supply us with the documents confirming the said Sammy Kioko’s claim against the County Government of Machakos as published in your show, failure of which we will be forced to take action against yourselves for the hosting, publishing, and disseminating false information on your YouTube Channel and your social media channels whereas the said information is skewed, false, malicious and does not paint the real picture,” a section of the letter read.

Reacting to the demand letter, Obinna jokingly posted on social media that a mistake had been made and questioned the legitimacy of the document. He urged Kioko to provide contracts and delivery notes signed and stamped by county officials so his lawyer could submit them to the government.

“Wueh, I just want to ask for your prayers – a mistake has been made. Is this a LEGIT DOCUMENT? Is it real, or am I dreaming? Alright, Sammy Kioko, bring those contracts and delivery notes signed and stamped by the County Government officials so my lawyer @otienowill can submit them to the Machakos County Government,” Obinna wrote.

He added that a simple issue was being blown out of proportion by everyone, who were avoiding direct contact with Kioko to find a solution.

Earlier last month, the Machakos County Government dismissed Sammy Kioko’s allegations as politically motivated, emphasising that no contractual agreements existed between the two parties. With the latest developments, attention now turns to the evidence Obinna’s lawyer is expected to present to the county government and how the case will ultimately unfold.
