Nzioka Waita Raises Alarm Over Machakos Level 5 Hospital

Former State House Chief of Staff, Nzioka Waita, has raised serious concerns about the state of services at Machakos Level 5 Hospital, describing the county referral facility as being in dire need of urgent intervention.

Speaking on Tuesday evening during an interview on Katumbi Show Live, hosted by Katumbi, Kim’s Online, and Moz Media, Waita painted a grim picture of the hospital, claiming that patients face serious challenges while seeking treatment.

“Machakos Level 5 Hospital is in a mess. It is a death sentence. Once you enter there, getting out is a problem. Women are going through a very difficult time while giving birth,” Waita said.

The hospital has frequently been in the spotlight, especially during strikes by doctors and clinicians, which have heightened tensions. In October last year, the County Senator Agnes Kavindu Muthàma launched a scathing attack on Governor Wavinya Ndeti, accusing her administration of neglecting the county’s health sector during a United Opposition rally in Masii town, in the presence of party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka.

Governor Ndeti, however, has repeatedly affirmed her administration’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and public services across Machakos County.

The criticisms underscore the urgent need for reforms and investment in the county’s healthcare system, highlighting that the well-being of residents should remain a top priority for the county leadership.
