Nyumba Kumi members beat suspected thief in Kunda Kindu


Nyumba Kumi initiative members at Kunda Kindu in Kitui town Thursday thoroughly beat a man believed to be among the thieves who have been breaking and stealing in shops in the area.

Joshua Kasina the Kunda Kindu village elder speaking to Mauvoo News revealed that the man was found hiding at BLI area.

He said Kunda kindu area has been prone to stealing since the imposition of the Nationwide curfew by the Government. The thieves wait for the police to end their patrols and then break and steal from businesses.

He warned those who have been taking advantage to steal from others that they will face the consequences, promising to make Kunda Kindu area a free working zone where businesses can operate without intimidation from thugs.

The village elder added that they are working in partnership with the police to safeguard the properties in this area during the curfew hours.

“No loitering in Kunda Kindu during the night. Stay indoors and I warn those who have that character of stealing, that we are going to deal with you,” he added.

Kunda Kindu, Mosquito and Kalundu in Kitui town are said to be the most targeted by thieves where the businessmen in these areas claim to have incurred losses during the curfew.

Mwingi residents are also living in fear as robbers take advantage of the Government curfew to rob them. Cases of robbery in Mwingi have been on the rise since the president-imposed dusk to dawn curfew.
