Ngilu breaks silence on Raila’s Running Mate debate

Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has broken her silence on the ongoing Raila Odinga Running mate. Ngilu asked the Azimio-One Kenya coalition to have candid talks to deliberate on the choice of Raila’s running mate.

Ngilu pointed out that time is running out and if they continue to create division in their coalition and fail to come to a consensus with each other they may be outshined by their opponent. She said that she is also fit for running mate as she once vied for president against Moi in 1997.

She called upon the leaders to unite to form the next government under Azimio-One Kenya just the way they united in 2002 to form the late Mwai Kibaki’s government.

“In 2002 together with Kalonzo, Raila, John Michuki, and the late George Saitoti we united to remove the late President Daniel Moi from the presidency and we formed the government which is the best government that helped the people. The Deputy President slot is being contested by many people who want to deputize Raila and since NASA won the previous elections but we don’t know what happened, we should now engage each other and come together,” she said.

Ngilu added that the Wiper team threatening not to vote for Raila if Kalonzo is not given the Deputy President slot was not offering a solution because it will not help the community and thus there is a need for a sober dialogue.

“Let’s sit down and agree on what to do because we Kamba community should be in the next government. We want to agree on what we get as a community and not an individual and when we say that we won’t vote it will have no impact because the government must be formed even if we don’t vote,” Ngilu went on.

She further pointed out that it will be a two-horse race in the presidential contest between Raila Odinga and William Ruto, asking the Kamba community to vote for Raila who is concerned about the interests of the Kenyans, unlike Ruto who she termed as a thief.
