Net worth of Kitui CEC Nominees

The 10 County Executive Committee Members (CECMs) nominated by Governor Malombe were vetted by the County Assembly of Kitui on 15th December 2022 and 16th December 2022.

Out of the 10 nominees, 9 were vetted successfully and their names were forwarded by the County Assembly for appointment by the Governor while one nominee was rejected.

Every nominee was required to fill out a questionnaire stating his net worth in terms of money, assets, and also if he or she has liabilities.

The first nominee to be vetted was Richard John Mwendandu born in Ikanga/Kyatune ward in the Kitui South constituency. Mwendandu who was nominated to serve in the Department of Energy, Environment, Forestry, and mineral resources indicated that his net worth is estimated to be Ksh. 90 million.

Phoebe Ndunyu Mutemi from Kyome/Thaana ward in Mwingi West, the nominee for Culture, Gender, Youth, ICT, Sports, and Social Services appeared before the appointments committee on 15th December 2022.  She estimated her net worth to be Ksh. 45,950,000 which included family assets and liabilities owned by her husband.

Peter Mwikya Kilonzo popularly known as Tangawizi the former MCA of Athi ward, Kitui south, and the former Majority leader was nominated to the Department of Finance, Economic Planning, and revenue management. He estimated his net worth to be Ksh. 60 million.

Rose Mawia Mutuku from Kisasi ward, Kitui Rural constituency was the fourth to appear before the appointments committee on 15th December 2022. Rose who was nominated to the Department of Trade, Industry, ICT, Innovation and Cooperatives estimated her net worth to be Kshs. 590 million.

Stephen Mbaya Kimwele, a former MCA candidate in the Kivou ward in the Mwingi Central constituency was the last nominee to be vetted on 15th December 2022. Mbaya who was nominated to the ministry of Agriculture and Livestock revealed his net worth to be Kshs. 21 million.

Ruth Koki Mwanzia from Mulango, Kitui Central constituency who worked with Governor Malombe during his first term appeared before the appointments committee on 16th December 2022. The nominee as the CECM of Health and Sanitation estimated her net worth to be Ksh. 50,606,000 (50.6 million).

Engineer Reuben Mulwa Itiko, the nominee for Roads, Public Works and Transport appeared before the committee on 16th December 2022. Reuben who comes from the Chuluni ward in the Kitui East constituency estimated his net worth to be Kshs. 66,384,000.

Peter Gitonga Nkunda from Tharaka ward in Mwingi North constituency who also worked as a CECM during Governor Malombe’s first term appeared before the vetting committee on 16th December 2022. The nominee to the ministry of water and irrigation estimated his net worth to be Ksh. 8,500,000 (8.5 million).

Frederick Kisong’e Kimanga from Kithumula/Kwa Mutonga ward in Kitui west constituency was the last nominee to be vetted by the appointments committee on 16th December 2022. Frederick who was nominated to the docket for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development estimated his net worth to be Kshs. 125 million.

Joyce Kasyoka Masila who was rejected by the appointments committee appeared before the committee on 16th December 2022. Joyce who comes from Zombe/Mwitika in Kitui East estimated her net worth to be Ksh. 5.7 million.
