The families of four men who were reportedly abducted on December 16 and 17, 2024 in Mlolongo I are still in anguish as their loved ones remain missing.
The disappearance of Steven Mbisi Kavingo, Martin Nyuko Mwau, Kalabi Mwema, and Justus Mutumwa has left relatives and friends grappling with fear and uncertainty.
Steven Mbisi, 35, was abducted by unknown individuals from his Kathangaita home on December 18 under chilling circumstances.
A Neighbor from his rented house recounted seeing four masked men arrive in a car, swiftly carry out the abduction, and drive away.
“Kuna majamaa walikuja wanne mmoja amevaa blue mwingine pink na huyo mwingine alikuwa amevaa red, wakamchukua… Walikuwa na kofia na mask, sasa hungenotice mtu,” said the neighbor. The witnesses described the incident as a rapid and well-coordinated operation.
“Kuna mwenye alikuja na gari akapark Kuna wenye walishakuja wakaingia already na miguu” she added.
Mbisi’s wife, speaking by phone with Citizen Tv news reporter Odee Francis, confirmed that her husband was taken shortly after showering just when he was getting ready to go to his shoe-selling business.
“Steve alikuwa anaoga, Mimi nilijuwa kwa bedroom, nikasikia mtu anaingia kwa nyumba, kuangalia nikapatana na mzee flani mkubwa kidogo lightskin akaniambia nilale kwa bed nisijaribu kumwangalia. Hao wengine watatu wakambeba wakaenda na yeye. Kila mtu alikuwa na gun,” Mbisi’s wife recounted.
Three of his friends—35-year-old Martin Nyuko, Kalabi Mwema, and 33-year-old Justus Mutumwa—had been abducted a day earlier under similar circumstances.
“On Wednesday date 18 hapo 17, ndio alibebwa… wako wanaume wanne, wote ni marafiki, wote wanafanya biashara,” recounted kalabis sister.
The families of the missing men have been left in fear and frustration, unable to obtain any concrete information from authorities.
“We just want to know where they are,” one distraught relative said.
While police continue to investigate, the lack of progress has raised concerns over the effectiveness of their efforts despite the families reporting the incident to the Mlolongo police station the DCI headquarters in Athi River. The families are pleading for answers and the safe return of their loved ones with anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the four encouraged to contact the authorities.
