Mwengi Mutuse speaks after chaos at Kalembe Ndile wife’s burial

Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse has spoken after chaos erupted at the burial of Magdalene Kalembe at Mbui Nzau on Friday.

Taking to Facebook, Mutuse condemned the violence at the burial and decried false clips on social media claiming he was chased from the funeral.

“I have seen false clips and spin circulating in social media about the unfortunate incident at the tail end of the funeral of the late Mrs. Kalembe at Mbui-Nzau. For the record- The funeral was peaceful up to about 10 minutes to the end of speeches. No one talked about the issue of the finance bill nor my stand and voting in parliament about it,” Mutuse said.

“The mourners were happy with me and most are my supporters. When the incident occurred, I had already finished my address and handed it over to the Deputy Governor. We had agreed that the DG would invite former Governor Prof Kivutha Kibwana, and then Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr as the last speaker. An issue arose when the area ACC was called, and I stepped in to ask him to allow Prof Kibwana to speak. In my mind, I thought the originally agreed order of speeches ought to be followed and that protocol-wise, the order of speeches was already beyond the ACC. However, some MCAs led by nominated MCA Urbanus Kana and Jades Kalunda brought an argument thinking that I wanted the ACC to talk after the Governor, which was not my intention at all. ” The Kibwezi West MP added.

He blamed Urbanus Wambua alias Kanzala Kana and accused him of insults and being vulgar saying he tried to hold his cool.

“I held my cool until he became overbearing when I told him to stop his nonsense. By the time I told him so, the charged crowd had already noticed his ill motives and evicted him from the funeral. This is what caused pandemonium which lasted for about 10 minutes. After that, the Priest took over and the funeral continued. I was there up to the end. He narrated.

Mutuse further promised to nominate one of the late MCA’s daughters to replace her as nominated MCA in the County Assembly of Makueni under the Maendeleo Chap Chap party.
