In a passionate appeal to leaders across the country, Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi has called for greater youth involvement in decision-making processes.
Speaking during a tour of Matungulu and Kangundo sub-counties, Mwangangi highlighted the growing crisis of youth unemployment, urging leaders at all levels to take immediate action.
Mwangangi lauded Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti for her progressive approach to integrating the youth into governance, describing her as a model leader whose initiatives should be replicated nationwide.
“The unemployment rate among our youth is alarming, and we cannot afford to ignore this any longer,” Mwangangi stated.
“Governor Wavinya has set an example that MCAs, lawmakers, and even the national government should follow.”He added.
Mwangangi had accompanied Governor Wavinya to a public participation forum on the proposed amendments to the Machakos Youth Empowerment Act 2022.
He further called on both public and private sectors to create platforms where young people can contribute to policies and initiatives that directly affect their futures.
“Youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow; they are the leaders of today. It is high time we start treating them as such,” Mwangangi urged.
In her speech, Wavinya noted that her aim is to build a future where youth lead with passion, creativity, and resilience, driving positive change and innovation across the globe.
