In politics, they say there are no permanent friends or enemies. Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka Musau alias Kawaya has been a close ally to Governor Mutua who is also his party leader for the last few years.

So close was their friendship that it was rumored that Mutua could be grooming Kawaya to be Governor in 2022. The breaking of ranks is believed to have been caused by kawaya’s open defiance to Mutua and backing William Ruto for president in 2022. This is despite Mutua fighting hard to become president.

Speaking on Tuesday in Muthetheni as he launched the Kenya Climate-Smart Agriculture project, Mutua indirectly lashed out at those opposing the BBI. In December 2019, Mwala MP Kawaya dismissed the BBI as a scam and useless thing.

“Watu wengine wameiba pesa sasa wameanza kupatia pesa wabunge na MCA wa hapa ukambani wakuje waharibu hewa na pesa ya wizi. Money that has killed people is what they are getting. People have died because there are no drugs. ” Mutua said.

“That is the money you are going round with. Our son, leave alone “blood money”. If you are broke and your wife has denied you conjugal rights, come to us we will lend you because that money is blood money. People in Mwala and Machakos will not accept “blood money.”

The remarks are said to have been directed to the Mwala MP Vincent Musau Kawaya who is a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto who has been severally accused of swindling public resources.
