Former Kitui senator David Musila has declared interest in the Kitui gubernatorial seat come 2022. Musila spoke at Kea primary, Nguutani ward at the funeral of Patrick Mungeli who was director Agriculture Mwingi west.

“I will be seeking to remove the Governor from her seat and I will do so with your votes. Do you want me to remove her?.” Musila said as the mourners said yes in agreement.

Musila alleged that the county has failed to take up projects that he did over 10 years ago such as hospitals and morgues specifically in Kakungu, Thitani and Nzeluni.

The former Kalonzo ally dismissed claims he was old for the job saying, “Biden has 78 years and Americans elected him. So, the issue of age does not arise. When I was asking for votes some women were saying come and see, he does not use the walking stick like we were told.”

“Even if I use a walking stick and God has made me a leader, that is better than if I am not using it but stealing county resources,” Musila added.

Other candidates so far interested in the seat are the incumbent Charity Ngilu, Former Governor Dr. Julius Malombe Kenya’s ambassador to Uganda Kiema Kilonzo, Former Nairobi deputy governor Jonathan Mueke among others.
