Munyaka: Why i stopped supporting Ruto

Former Machakos Town MP Victor Munyaka has broken his silence on his decision to part ways with President William Ruto, accusing him of betraying Kenyans.

Munyaka, who last year turned down a government job offer, claimed that Ruto failed to deliver on promises made during the 2022 elections.

Speaking during the launch of DAP Kenya’s new offices, Munyaka criticized Ruto for abandoning the “hustler” narrative that had formed the backbone of his campaign.

“What Ruto promised during the campaigns was bottom-up; what he is giving now is bottom-down,” Munyaka said.

“He was telling hustlers they would form the next government, but what we are seeing now is a government of the rich and dynasties, including COVID billionaires.” He claimed

Munyaka declared his support for former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Eugene Wamalwa, calling them the “winning team.”

He added, “This is the winning team. Ukiona nimeelekea hapa, ujue mbele iko sawa (When you see me here, know the future is bright).”

Munyaka’s remarks signal a shift in the political landscape as he joins forces with opposition leaders in challenging President Ruto’s administration.
