Monica Kivuti’s daughter recalls asking her not to go to work on the day she was killed

Josephine Wanjiru first born daughter of late Makadara Law Courts principal magistrate Monica Kivuti delivered a moving tribute at her burial in Yatta on Saturday.

Josephine in her moving tribute disclosed that she had asked her mother not to go to work on that fateful day.

“I called my mom on June 12 to wish her a happy birthday. My daughter sang and we had a nice moment. We had a nice Christmas vacation, I feel robbed because those moments have been cut short.”Josephine in her tribute recalled.

“My mum Monny, If only I had the powers…I told her not to go to work it was her birthday, but she declined insisting we would celebrate on the weekend, she loved her work. Life has a way of turning things around. When I called home she answered… I’m gonna miss that laughter…these moments have been cut short.”She went on.

Her husband Mutima Kangata eulogized her and promised to take care of their 18-month-old Last-born daughter Elianna and the entire family. He disclosed the farm at Kithimani in Yatta where Monica was buried they purchased it in February 2024 and he would set up a permanent home in her honor.

Several leaders who attended the burial led by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, and Senator Kavindu called on the Government to allocate more resources to the Judiciary regretting the unfortunate shooting.
