A 74-year-old man from Ndumbu village in Mbooni sub-county of Makueni county has killed his wife. The old man who was not identified immediately used a panga to cut his wife into pieces before escaping.
He then hid in Lung’u forest where irate residents caught up with him and beat him mercilessly before setting his body on fire.
The incident was confirmed by Kisau location chief Daniel Mutinda who told the press that the man and his wife have been having series of disputes over their land.
He disclosed that could be the reason behind the saddening incident. The two bodies have since been moved to the mortuary as villagers struggle to come to terms with the happenings.
Cases of domestic violence have recorded an increase in Mbooni sub-county in the last 2 months. On 16th March, Stephen Kithuka, a retired Kenya Air Force officer from Mukimwani area accused of hacking his wife with a panga until she died after a domestic brawl was arrested.
On the 31st of March, A 37-year-old man killed his two sons and later hang himself in Mithumoni village, Mbooni sub-county of Makueni county.
On the 5th of April, A form three student and his mother were arrested for allegedly killing a 46-year-old man. The incident happened in Kwakavemba village Mbooni sub-county.
Residents have been urged to find peaceful ways of solving their issues instead of resorting to violence.
