Mercy Mawia’s parents David and Elizabeth gave moving tributes during the memorial service held Wednesday at AIC Milimani in Nairobi.

“I will not talk much because my heart is heavy and I’m grieving. I am a preacher, Ive consoled many people who have lost loved ones and conducted many burials, but for now, my heart is so heavy.” Mercy’s dad David said.

“I can just say we were so happy to get a girl in 1998 there are so many women who came to visit us and celebrate with us. After 37 years God saw it fit to take away our child who we loved…She worked so hard, built a brand, and made many friends.” He went on.

Mercy’s father narrated how he was moved by her decision to mobilize her friends to purchase a wheelchair for a physically challenged lady who she didn’t know in person and just called on the Radio. He disclosed when Mercy passed the lady from Mwingi who lost her leg after ailing from Cancer sent a condolence message to him.

“I can only say what Job said after Job received news that children had died and property gone. God gave us and God has taken, may his name be praised.” He concluded.

Her mother Elizabeth David narrated how Mercy and her husband would visit them every December mourning her as a multitalented, hardworking, and happy soul.

“Mercy was talented in many ways, Gospel singer, Radio presenter. She was ever happy, humble, hardworking and courageous. She was a mentor to many people and an advisor. She was a friend to everybody, young and old.”Elizabeth narrated as emotions overrun her forcing her to cut short her speech.
