Kyalo Wambua the man who has been helping police retrieve bodies from Kware dumpsite, has narrated his story.
During an interview on Musyi FM, Wambua who comes from Makueni County revealed that the bodies he retrieved were not his first saying that he liases with police from the Kware police station to retrieve bodies when cases are reported.
Wambua said that he was called by the lady who claimed to have had a dream of her sister who had died. The lady told him that she had been given the number by the police so that he could assist her in retrieving the body of her sister.
“I was called by that lady after she got my number from the police to assist her in retrieving the body of her sister. This was not my first time retrieving bodies I have worked with the police in Kware Police Station. Before I retrieved these bodies I had retrieved eight bodies, “said Wambua.
” I have assisted the police in retrieving bodies earlier and my number is always at the police station because there was a time we had retrieved a body in the same area with the Red Cross and they said that my number be put in the police station,” he added.
His love for water was developed while growing up. He grew up swimming in Thwake Dam.
Wambua who studied plant operations said that his dream was to join the Kenya Navy but he has never gotten a chance to join despite him going for recruitment.
” I have always wanted to join the Kenya Navy that’s my dream job. I have gone for recruitment several times but despite having all the qualifications I have not been able to get through because I have no godfather to sponsor me,” he narrated.
Since Kyalo helped police retrieve bodies Kenyans have come out in large numbers to appreciate him for the work that he did. Comedian Eric Omondi led Kenyans in raising over KSh 300,000 for Wambua, the brave volunteer who retrieved bodies from the Kware dumpsite in Mukuru Kwa Njenga.
