DannyP Mboka last week took the internet by storm with his ‘Kolona vilus’ song. Mauvoo News decided to reach out to the artist whose song is still doing rounds in the interwebs.
The kolona vilus hitmaker is a gospel artist who hails from Machakos County. He is a graduate of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) with a Bachelors’s degree in Mass Communications and Public relations.
“I started music back in 2016, I have done around 5 songs, the journey has been tough but I have kept on pushing to achieve my goals,” DannyP says.
In 2018, the kolona vilus star shifted from Urban music to local Kamba Mbenga style with new ideas to promote the Kamba culture to the world.
“It has been working well for me, especially in the Kamba community, and now after my latest Hit song Kolona I can say I have achieved to some point, the song is trending in Kenya.” He adds.
DannyP further revealed that he worked with Justus Myello, one of the top Kamba musicians as a marketer, PA, and a manager. He appreciated the experience to grow his music career and says he is forever indebted to Myello.
On what inspired him to write the Kolona Vilus song, DannyP says, “What pushed me to write this song, is because of the new deadly disease coronavirus, I wrote this to encourage all Kenyans, Africans and the world to stay positive about this virus and believe that God has the solution, we should also take the best preventive measures to stay away from the virus.”
On the Challenges he has faced in his musical journey, the artist notes that each day has a new challenge and that music is not easy.
“You must sacrifice and invest with low expectations especially when you are a beginner, you will face rejection, some people will ignore you others will look down upon you but that should not stop you from doing your thing, one day you shall make it,” DannyP adds.
The artist further advises upcoming artists to come out and showcase whatever they feel they are good at.
“Determination never fails. Do what you think can take you up there but do not listen at people’s negative opinions. Thank you to all my fans and supporters. Continue supporting me, great things in store.” the artist adds.
