Two children aged three and four years died after a fire accident in Kanyenyoni, Mbooni sub-county of Makueni county.
The saddening incident was confirmed by Mbooni Deputy County Commissioner John Cheruiyot who said that the two children a girl and a boy were sleeping in the house when it caught fire.
Neighbors tried putting out the fire but the children could not be saved.
Cheruiyot confirmed that investigations into the incident have begun
“I want to assure leaders and locals that we are doing our best in investigating the incident to know the cause of the fire and next cause of action,” Cheruiyot said.
The bodies of the two were picked up by police and taken to Tawa mortuary.
Mbooni MP Erastus Kivasu visited and consoled the family. The lawmaker urged well-wishers to help the family during this hard time.
“It’s very hard but we cannot question what God has planned. The family has lost children, clothes, and other things to the fire and needs our help, well-wishers should come and lend a helping hand,” said Kivasu.
