Mbete Mweene Speaks on why he Deleted ‘Nienda Ukuvana’ song

Kamba artist David Munyao alias Mbete Mweene has pulled down his controversial song Nienda Ukuvana from YouTube, just two months after its release.

The song, whose title translates to I Want to Mark You, sparked criticism, with many of his followers deeming it vulgar.

Following his release, other artists followed suit with similarly provocative song titles, among them Ken Kijana alias Ndeke ya Muthanga causing an uproar in Ukambani.

However, in an exclusive interview, Mbete clarified that his decision to delete the song was not driven by public pressure or fear but by a personal conviction.

“I sang this song for my wife, and I sincerely apologize for taking it down. I didn’t remove it out of fear, God spoke to me,” Mbete said.

He went on to apologize to his fans, admitting that he had been misled.

“That was not me. I’ve come to realize that the company you keep can misguide you, and you must be careful when the world is cheering you on,” he reflected.

Mbete emphasized the importance of promoting positive values, stating, “It is wrong to corrupt people’s minds, as that only serves to advance the kingdom of darkness.”

He also expressed hope that other gospel artists engaging in clout-chasing through controversial song titles would reconsider their actions.

“My prayer is that they reflect and realize what they are doing is wrong,” he concluded.
