Kamba artist David Kimeu alias Mbete Mweene has come out to clear the air over his latest song Nienda Ukuvana which has taken the internet by storm.
Speaking to a section of Ukambani YouTubers, Mbete said he wrote the song for his wife ahead of their dowry payment early next year.
He clarified that ‘kuvana’ means to mark and was surprised by how some people had interpreted the song and doing some funny challenges on TikTok.
“I wrote this Nienda Ukuvana song in October, I have been seeing scenarios where someone is married but they have not done ‘Ntheo’, when the partner dies they have to do it then, which is not good. This at times results in the wife being buried in their parent’s home.” Mbete said.
“I have a wife and have not done ‘Ntheo’ for her that’s why I sang this song Nienda Ukuvana. The song is about me, singing to my wife about our ‘Ntheo’. I have seen in TikTok we have over 7,000 challenges. Some people are doing challenges when naked, others without shirts, and others eating bananas. I have ‘Ntheo’ for my wife next year and that’s why I sang the song and to also encourage other men to do it.” He explained.
In the interview Mbete also took a Swipe at Kasolo for striking Wamitu show channel and allegedly insulting him in a viral audio.
Mbete disclosed that Many people have asked him not to upload the song on YouTube as it could be pulled down if some people perceived it as an insult but he vowed to go ahead and release the video
The song premiered on YouTube today.
