Police in Matuu, Yatta sub-county have arrested one man accused of killing his two-year-old daughter.
The man, who was not immediately identified, had traveled all the way from Kabati to Kitui in a bid to get his wife back.
The two had some wrangles forcing the woman to return to her parents with her kid.
According to Kaluluini Assistant Chief Peter Muinde, the attempts by the man to convince his wife to go back with him fell on deaf ears.
“In anger, he beat his wife and banged his child on the floor. The child was pronounced dead on reaching Matuu hospital,” said the chief.
He urged couples to avoid causing children harm when they have failed to reconcile.
“Domestic violence will not be tolerated and I would like to issue a warning that no one will be spared in the fight,” Muinde said.
Police have commenced investigations on the incident as the suspect awaits arraignment in court.
