A girl from Masinga who had been accused of being pregnant but was later diagnosed with cancer beat all odds to attain a B plain in KCSE 2022.
Mauvoo News got a chance to look at the story of the girl who was schooling at Musingini Secondary school.
Maureen Wayua Nzwili dropped out of school in 2020 after she developed problems with her stomach when it started to swell.
Mauren revealed that after dropping out of school she went to Masinga Level 4 Hospital where she met a nurse who told her that she was pregnant. The nurse even booked a clinic for her.
“I dropped out of school at St. Joseph Musingini Secondary School in 2020 after my stomach started to swell. I went to Masinga Level 4 Hospital. They told me I was pregnant because even my stomach was big enough and they even booked a clinic for me,” Maureen narrated.
After this ordeal, she met someone who helped take her to Kenyatta National Hospital where 5 liters of fluid were removed from her body after she was diagnosed with cancer and started treatment immediately.
“I met with Sister Mary Musembi who took me to KNH where I was diagnosed with cancer and I was treated until I got well but still I go for a checkup,” she went on.
“I went back to school in 2021 because I had dropped in Form 3, Term 1. I did my KCSE in 2022 and scored B Plain. My dream is to be in the medical field because I want to ensure the kind of service I got at Masinga level 4 I do not get it anywhere else,” added Maureen.
Sister Mary Musembi who came to help Maureen said that it was a miracle for Maureen to go back to school and attain such grades and her prayer was for her to pursue her career well.
