The Ukambani gospel industry has this past weekend been abuzz with activities, from the launch of Meshack Mwengei’s foundation to Biez Kaviru’s album launch.
Beiz Kaviru’s launch was graced by prominent figures in the industry including John Kay and John Mbaka who for a long time have been regarded among the true gospel artists in Ukambani.
Masekete who was among the attendees at Kaviru’s album launch took the opportunity to address the controversy that there are only three true gospel artists in Ukambani.
Addressing both John Kay and John Mbaka, Masekete asked both artists to try and defend other gospel artists when they are been attacked by their fans.
“And from today, John Kay and John Mbaka, when you see fans attacking us saying there are only three gospel artists in Ukambani, please comment and say other artists like Masekete and Ndeke and Kasolo are also gospel artists,” said Masekete.
According to Masekete when the two are silent it shows that the gospel industry is divided.
Masekete who has in the past picked issues with Wilberforce Musyoka for distancing himself from other gospel artists from the region sent the two to greet him.
