A middle-aged man was Wednesday attacked and killed by a marauding Buffalo at Kaluuku village, Kaliku location in Kitui East.
The incident was confirmed by Kavutii assistant chief Darius Nthenge who revealed the deceased was clearing a bush with others who escaped injuries from the buffalo.
Nthenge appealed to locals to be alert of wild animals around and ensure they report immediately to let the KWS officers respond with immediate effect before causing more harm to the community.
The Assistant Chief advised parents to care for their children and ensure they do not walk alone for their safety.
The body of the deceased was taken to Mutitu sub-county hospital Morgue as KWS officers commenced the search for the buffalo among other killer animals which have been a threat to locals.
In Mui ward, Mwingi central, locals at Katua have stayed indoors since Tuesday evening fearing attacks by a man-eating lion which was seen hunting around.
“The KWS officers said they are very busy searching for other wilds at Endau. Therefore we are still waiting for them. As locals in this area we are staying in fear,” a local said.
