A man collapsed on Friday while walking and minutes later he was pronounced dead something that left residents of Kariobangi Estate, Machakos Town in shock. According to the residents the man was well known in the estate and he had not been ill or suffering from any sickness previously.
Confirming the incident, Machakos Township Chief Joshua Kimeu said that the man was confirmed dead by the police who rushed to the scene and later took him to Machakos Level 5 Morgue.
Chief Joshua warned people against speculating the cause of the mysterious death by linking it to COVID-19 rather they should wait for the police to finish on their investigations.
“It is true the man died today and the body taken by police to Machakos level 5 hospital mortuary where a post mortem is being conducted to establish the cause of the sudden death and once the results are out and by any chance he turns out to be COVID-19 positive, I request those who came into contact with him to present themselves for testing but as of now we should let the police do their work, ” he said.
The chief further revealed that the medical team from Machakos level 5 had been alerted to fumigate the place the body had lied urging residents to follow the set guidelines set by the Ministry of health in order to prevent the spread of the pandemic.
“Let’s follow the set guidelines by the ministry of health by ensuring we maintain social distance and put on our masks when in public places. Today have just seen people getting close while viewing the place the body was lying without observing any of the rules, “The chief cautioned.
