Tension is mounting in the Makueni County Assembly after Thange Ward MCA Eric Katumo accused Majority Leader Kisungi Katete of threatening to poison him.
In a dramatic disclosure made during a session on the floor of the House, Katumo alleged that Kisungi, who also serves as the MCA for Kithungo/Kitundu Ward, issued the threat during a confrontation on Monday.
“Honourable Speaker, yesterday, one Honourable Kisungi wa Katete told me to my face that he was going to poison me,” said Katumo, visibly shaken.
He added that the incident had deeply affected him emotionally, saying he now lives in constant fear.
“Since the incident, I have not known peace. I am living in fear. This is not just politics—this is life and death,” he said.
Katumo revealed that he had reported the matter to Makueni Police Station under OB number 32/05/08/2025 and urged the Assembly to treat the threat with the seriousness it deserves.
“This matter does not just concern my safety, but the safety and dignity of all honourable members of this House,” he stated, calling for an internal investigation.
The motive behind the alleged threat remains unclear. As of the time of publishing, Majority Leader Kisungi wa Katete had not publicly responded to the allegations.
