Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo, a close ally of Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, has revealed that the party is planning to support a significant number of Gen Z candidates in the next general elections.
This strategy is part of a broader initiative to foster youthful leadership and introduce fresh perspectives into Kenya’s political landscape.
During a press briefing in Wote, Makueni County, Senator Maanzo encouraged registered Gen Z members to actively engage in politics, inviting them to join the Wiper party.
“Wiper is open to all Gen Z individuals who wish to run for seats but have been denied the opportunity to form their own party. We are ready to sponsor you to run for various positions across the country,” Maanzo stated.
The Senator also voiced his dissatisfaction with the current state of Parliament, criticizing its failure to represent the interests of Kenyans adequately.
“Parliament is not delivering for Kenyans. They are simply passing laws as proposed by the executive and idling without fulfilling their mandate to represent the people,” Maanzo went on.
He urged the youth to take action against underperforming members of Parliament through the recall clause, which allows constituents to collect signatures to remove ineffective representatives.
“Kenyans unhappy with their MPs can now recall them by collecting signatures. This will push MPs to do what they were elected to do,” Maanzo added.
