Makueni MCAs have moved to intervene over the bad roads in the county. The MCAs passed a motion that requires the Department of Transport and Infrastructure to allocate sufficient funds in the 2020/2021 budget.

According to a motion moved by Bernadette Mutisya and Seconded by Emali/Mulala Ward MCA Nicodemus Muthoka, the department of Transport should address the road challenges on the hilly parts of the county and ensure proper drainage and repairing of gullies along the roads.

Most parts of Makueni County are hilly and whenever it rains, transport is a problem. Some of those areas include Kilungu, Mbooni, Ukia, Tulimani, etc

However, a section of locals who spoke to Mauvoo News felt that road challenges need to be addressed not only in the hilly areas but everywhere in the county where the roads are not in good condition.

The MCAs also passed a motion urging the CECM’s health, Education, Sports and ICT to ensure all sports facilities in the county have a toilet.
