Mavoko MP Patrick Makau has launched a fiery rebuttal against former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of disrespect and political provocation during a recent visit to Machakos County.
Speaking to the media, Makau expressed outrage over what he termed as “unwarranted insults” hurled at him by Gachagua, especially in the presence of Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
He accused a political opponent who shared a vehicle with Rigathi during the trip of using Rigathi to interfere with local politics in her favour.
“Insulting me in my constituency, and right in front of my party leader, shows the highest level of disrespect—not just to me, but to the entire Wiper Party,” said Makau.
Makau suggested that Gachagua’s outburst may have been fueled by political bitterness, particularly over Makau’s support for the motion to impeach the Deputy President.
“Gachagua is angry because I voted ‘Yes’ on his impeachment. He knows why I did it. When demolitions were happening in Mavoko, I went to him for help. He remembers exactly what he told me—and it wasn’t helpful,” Makau disclosed.

Condemning what he described as divisive and immature politics, Makau warned against external interference in Machakos County affairs.
“We strongly condemn these divisive remarks. Let it be clear: external forces will not dictate the political future of the great people of Machakos,” he declared.
He emphasized the need for a new era of politics in the region—one focused on respect, development, and unity rather than intimidation and public insults.
“Machakos people know who they will elect as Governor, keep off Machakos politics. You have proven you can be a dictator, those walking with Gachagua, can’t you see he is behaving like a madman? If it is Gachagua who will make be to be elected, let that seat stay,” Makau concluded.
On Monday, hundreds of locals in Athi River carrying placards and chanting anti Gachagua slogans voiced concerns over statements by Gachagua last week targeting Mavoko MP Patrick Makau.
Last week, Rigathi, during a Rally attended by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Governor Wavinya, and other leaders, accused Makau of disrespecting Kalonzo Musyoka. Missed the story? check it out below;
