Machakos County Women Rep Joyce Kamene Kasimbi warmed hearts with a special message during the International Men’s day celebrated on the 19th of November.

Kamene came out in defence of the men in the society saying that they need the support as they are somehow vulnerable yet they are perceived to be strong.

Through a Facebook post, Kasimbi said that men should be supported as they are human too and they undergo stress every day and they need to be given space so that they can share their views freely without being judged.

“Men are the strongest and at the same time the weakest gender, in our society men are expected to stand up for their families and communities, they are perceived as the strong gender but we forget they are also human, they get stressed, tired, broke, and they breakdown emotionally and mentally 😔 too let’s all support the males, they are human, let’s give them the safe space to freely share their issues without being judged because their mental and physical health matters too, “The Women representative said.

International Men’s Day is an annual event celebrated on the 19th of November. The objectives of celebrating an International Men’s Day are set out in ‘All The Six Pillars of International Men’s Day – Nation, Union, society, family, community, child care, and marriage.

Here are some of the reaction to Kamene Kasimbi’s remarks;

Steve Kivinda said, ” You have said a good thing to men. Men rarely get appreciated. They are many a time vilified.”

Pauline Mwangangi said, “Sometimes, they can be allowed time to breathe but checks and balances involved,”

Agnes Mutisya said, “Yes women ought to respect and honor men just like Sarah in the bible. “
