Traders in Machakos County are calling on Governor Wavinya Ndeti to intervene and save them from people purporting to be County workers and harassing them.
While addressing journalists in Machakos town the traders claimed that one Engineer Tony and Mtumba market chair lady identified as Mwikali have been going round transacting business on behalf of the county.
“They have been harassing us asking for money claiming to have been sent by County officers, they have even been compounding Maruti’s when they fail to pay,” said a trader.
They called for the governor to crack a whip on the duo to ensure no more traders are duped.
“Business is not the same anymore because they have interfered with every sector spelling fear in everyone. We want the Governor to state categorically if these people are sent by her government as purported if not, stringent measures should be taken against them,” said another trader.
“They are impounding Maruti’s operating in town contrary to how things are done, if a driver is on the wrong the vehicle is not impounded, he is arrested and taken to the right offices for correction,” he added.
They vowed to take the law into their hands if no action is taken against the two people.
