Machakos Health CECM speaks on the status of Covid vaccination in the county

Machakos Health CECM Dr. Ancent Kituku has given an update on the ongoing vaccination effort in the county.

According to Kituku, More than 73000 residents in Machakos County have received the AstraZeneca vaccine.

54,797 people have received their first dose while 18,234 residents have received both the first and the second dose.

Addressing the media at Machakos Level 5 Hospital, the CECM revealed that the county has already received 30,240 doses of theModerna Vaccine.

He noted that the vaccine needs to be stored in special equipment at a constant temperature, saying that only six health facilities, will provide the vaccine to residents while the Astrazeneca vaccine continues to be offered in all Machakos hospitals.

Kituku further called on locals to prioritize getting the vaccine noting an increased spread of the virus at the community level.

Last week, the Health CECM raised alarm over increased number of Covid-19 related deaths in the county that have seen mortuaries fill up and become overstretched.
