Former Machakos Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala has castigated Governor Mutua’s leadership and Machakos County Government for neglecting the disabled in the County.

Speaking on Thursday Kiala said that it was disheartening for people to learn the case of the ‘crawling family’ through the media.

Two weeks ago, KTN news highlighted the plight of the crawling family and how they have faced challenges for long without any help. Leaders and well-wishers have been flocking the home with goodies after being touched by the story.

Kiala stated that devolution was brought about to reach locals at the grassroots.

“We have a village, ward and Sub-county administrators, what’s their work. I thought that they should be aware of everything and notify the Governor. Devolution was brought so that such people get to benefit,” said Kiala.

Kiala spoke at Uuini in Kathiani sub-county of Machakos county where Kiamba movement (Supporters of Former Machakos Senator Johnston Muthama) visited the Matheka family and presented them with foodstuffs and other necessities.

The family has five people who have a paralysis condition that has left them helpless and unable to do things for themselves. According to a family member, the five people developed the condition while adults.

.Peter Kyalo a local youth leader who noticed the family told the media that there was a need for people to think of long-lasting help to the family.

“I wish to thank everyone who was touched and offered help. It’s a great gesture to see that everyone is taking the burden as their own. However, these people need proper toilets, good house and household stuffs.
