The GEMA community in Machakos comprising of Gikuyu, Embu and Meru endorsed Maendeleo Chap Chap Senatorial candidate Mutua Katuku Saturday evening. Led by Joseph Githeu, they promised to rally the 3 communities behind Katuku.
“I am the Chairperson of GEMA community and today we have seen it’s good we come together in unity and endorse Mutua Katuku for the Senatorial position,” Joseph Githeu said.
The leaders conducted a religious ritual to bless Katuku and seek heavenly intervention over his candidature at Machakos ASK Showground and the community vowed to lead aggressive campaigns for the candidate to ensure he clinches the position.
“As representatives of the GEMA community in Machakos County, we have had the opportunity to interact with Katuku and have listened to his policies and discovered he is the best among all other candidates. As such we have said special prayers for his victory even as we embark on rallying all our people behind him”, The chair went on.
Katuku welcomed the endorsement by GEMA and pledged he will be a neutral leader who will work for Machakos people with no discrimination and protect the interests of all Machakos residents.
“This is not an easy race and that’s why I am happy for GEMA community who live in Machakos county for supporting me. My pledge is to be a senator for all. I will ensure all communities live in harmony and have equal rights to do business and own property.” Katuku said.
