“We held a cabinet meeting to discuss the status of the coronavirus threat to Machakos. We have undertaken several measures and are in the process of procuring different items. The cabinet today has approved a budget of 100 million as an emergency fund for our ministry of health.” Mutua said.

Mutua revealed that 19 health workers from Machakos have been given extensive training on Coronavirus and are training the rest of the health practitioners in the county.

The Governor added that Machakos county staff will continue working so that they deliver services to the people but there will be measures to protect them from contacting coronavirus. He asked factories, businesses not to shut down but ensure they take measures to protect their workers.

“Am asking all businesses in Machakos County to remain open. You need to put in place measures to protect your workers. Let’s prevent people from getting sick but when they do we must take care of them.” He added.

Mutua said that he was pleased after checking on the coronavirus isolation wards and they will be increased to 5 in the whole Machakos County. He asked residents to refrain from visiting government offices for services they can get online.
