The New Kenya Planters Co-operative Union (KPCU) has released the latest disbursement figures for the Coffee Cherry Advance Revolving Fund, with a significant portion of funds allocated to farmers in Machakos and Makueni counties.
The total disbursement stands at Ksh 5.18 billion, benefiting 380,709 coffee farmers across the country.
Notably, Machakos County and Makueni have emerged as beneficiaries with Machakos receiving Ksh 583,319,767.65, which has been distributed among 45,799 coffee farmers while a substantial share of Ksh 18,086,966.60 has been disbursed to 2,567 farmers in Makueni County.
This allocation places Machakos among the top recipients, underscoring the region’s growing prominence in Kenya’s coffee sector. Other counties that have seen significant disbursements include Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Kiambu, and Murang’a. Nyeri County received the highest amount at Ksh 729,242,973.11, benefiting 74,062 farmers.
The Coffee Cherry Advance Revolving Fund is designed to provide financial assistance to coffee farmers, enabling them to manage their operations more effectively and enhance the quality of their produce. The fund is part of a broader strategy by the New KPCU to revitalize Kenya’s coffee industry and ensure that farmers receive timely payments for their produce.
