Machakos Chief of Staff Lawrence Ngovi has been dismissed from his position. Ngovi’s immediate sacking was made public via a statement signed by the County Secretary and Head of Public Service Dr. Muya Ndambuki.
Dr. Muya Ndambuki confirmed Ngovi’s immediate release while emphasizing that Ngovi is no longer authorized to conduct any business on behalf of the county.
“This is to inform the general public that Mr. Lawrence Nzau Ngovi has been relieved of his duties as Chief of Staff in the Office of the Governor, Machakos County from today, 19th July 2024. He is therefore not authorized to transact any business for and on behalf of the County.” read the official statement.
Ngovi’s sacking has shocked the people of Machakos reflecting on his steadfast support and loyalty to Governor Wavinya Ndeti as he played a key role in Ndeti’s gubernatorial campaigns which saw him appointed as chief of staff in 2022.
Amid the sacking of Ngovi, residents of Machakos eagerly await the announcement regarding his successor.
