Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council has written to the Director-General of Health Dr. Patrick Amoth requesting foro coronavirus mass testing in the counties of Machakos and Kajiado specifically in Mlolongo Town and Kitengela Town.
In a letter seen by Mauvoo News and dated 2nd of July, the council has noted the two towns to be Covid-19 Hotspots due to the increased number of cases that have been reported in the two towns and thus a mass testing exercise should commence immediately.
“The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council has ground information to the effect that there could be more Covid-19 cases in the following revised areas. Mlolongo Town in Athi River, Machakos County, and Kitengela Town in Kajiado Town, Kajiado County, “read the letter in part.
“The purpose of this letter is to request for the National Testing Team together with County Governments of Machakos and Kajiado to carry out mass testing in those two sites starting Friday 3rd July 2020 to 4th Saturday, July 2020,” read the letter.
Shalom Hospital in Athi River on Tuesday was reopened by KMPDC after it been closed after a rise in cases of Covid-19 cases. A day after it was reopened, it recorded 26 cases of the virus.
On Friday, Athi river has recorded 4 COVID-19 cases with Kitengela recording one case.
