Machakos health CECM Dr. Ancent Kituku has decried the increasing Covid-19 spread in the community. Speaking to the press Monday, Kituku asked locals to continue observing guidelines by the ministry of health.
The CECM also revealed numbers of those that have so far received the Covid vaccine saying as of Monday (19th April) it was 16,150 and the exercise was still ongoing calling on those who meet the criteria for the vaccine to come out in large numbers and receive the jab.
So far, Machakos county has received 17,000 Astrazeneca doses and will be getting an additional 2,000 doses Tuesday.
“So far we have received 17,000 doses and we have given 16,150. On Tuesday we will be receiving 2,000 more doses. We noted that the aged had a problem accessing hospitals which are far and now we have distributed to a hospital in every ward.” Kituku said.
“We know that this disease had gotten to the household level and that is why we said those who die at home must be tested for Covid so that if they were positive we can do contact tracing and protect our people.” He added.
The health minister dismissed claims that the rumors that the vaccine was not okay were false as WHO had given it a clean bill of health asking locals to turn up in large numbers and receive the jab.
