Kitui senator asks Raila not to accompany President Uhuru to Kitui

Kitui County senator Enoch Kiio wants ODM leader Raila Odinga to keep off Ukambani presidential tours.

Kiio said that Raila did not need to accompany president Uhuru Kenyatta during his tour to Ukambani last week and was not welcome to Kitui when the president will be visiting.

“The people of Ukambani wanted to have talks with their president, to discuss issues touching on the region but for Raila to come was not a good thing,” said Kiio.

He added that Raila should abstain from accompanying Uhuru when he will visit Kitui county late this month.

” For Raila to come to our meeting, it wasn’t right. Because there are other functions and meetings at Kitui, I’m urging you please baba don’t come. We want to talk to our president as Ukambani people,” he noted.

The vocal senator said that Kamba leaders did not go to Nyanza when the president visited and such gesture should be accorded to ukambani.

Kiio who spoke over the weekend at a function at AIC Kyondoni, Kitui also urged leaders to desist from talking politics and instead focus on development until 2022. Other leaders present at the function included; Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, CS Joe Mucheru, KFCB chair Ezekiel Mutua among others.

Last week, the senator also asked the president not to visit KICOTEC when he will be touring Kitui county.
