Kitui MCA: Mulyungi’s tender to blame for fall out between MCAs and Malombe

Zombe/Mwitika Ward MCA Malinga Munyao has shed light on an alleged rift between Kitui Governor Julius Malombe and MCAs saying a County Assembly tender given to Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulungyi is behind it.

Speaking during Jamhuri Day celebrations, MCA Munyao revealed that MP Mulungyi‘s architectural firm had been awarded a tender by the county Assembly.

However, Munyao claimed Governor Malombe reportedly declined the MP’s demand for full payment of the tender upfront, citing the need to prioritize other pressing projects, such as water supply and road infrastructure development.

According to Munyao, the fallout has escalated into a political standoff, with MP Mulungyi allegedly enlisting the support of some MCAs to fight Governor Malombe.

“These MCAs have vowed to impeach the governor,” Munyao stated, further alleging that a motion to impeach the County Finance Minister is part of a broader strategy to undermine the governor.

An impeachment motion of the Finance CECM Peter Mwikya, currently under debate in the county assembly, has been criticized by Munyao, who dismissed it as driven by personal interests rather than legitimate governance concerns.

“There is no reason for the removal of the minister; it’s because of personal interests,” he said.

Munyao reaffirmed his loyalty to Governor Malombe and pledged to oppose the impeachment efforts alongside his constituents.

“We have vowed to stand with Governor Malombe as promised. We, the people of Kitui East, will vote no to the impeachment motion.”He added.

The MCA also called on Kitui residents to continue supporting the governor, President William Ruto, and other elected leaders in their efforts to advance the country’s development.

Last Weekend, Speaker Kinengo and MCAs told off Governor Malombe that the County does not belong to him. Read more;
