Kitui farmers trained on modern Mango value addition

A section of farmers from Kitui county are being trained on mango value addition and preservation by a US-based company Agricycle in partnership with Kitui County Government.

The ongoing 4-day training at Syongila also includes modern technology for drying mangoes and pest management.

Agriculture, Water, and Irrigation CECM Kyalo Muthusi speaking at Syongila urged farmers to organize themselves in groups to benefit from support by the County government.

Trade, cooperatives and investments CECM Esther Kilonzi who accompanied his agriculture counterpart urged farmers to exploit their capacity for better yields to maximally gain from their efforts.

The County Government of Kitui has so far initiated different projects and programs in the agricultural department aimed at attaining a stable food supply and wealth creation. They include Ndengu revolution and Mianda program.

8 Mango farming cooperatives in the Kitui have an order to supply fifteen tonnes of solar-dried mango flakes.
