Kitui court hands man 2 years sentence over theft of items worth 30,000


A middle-aged man was Wednesday jailed by a Kitui court for two years after he was found guilty of stealing household items worth 30,000 shillings at Katulani sub-county, Kitui central on 2nd February 2020

Gideon Mwanza was sentenced by the Kitui senior principal magistrate, Margret Kasera.

According to the court, Mwanza, on that day during unknown hours, broke and stole in a house of his neighbor plastic seats, dozens of Teacups, and some cash.

The case was reported at Itoleka police station and after his arrest, he was arraigned in Kitui law court where he pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.

The court examined the report of the witness who testified before the court during the hearing of the case, where he was found guilty.

The man told the court that he has a wife and 3 children who are Schooling, and has been providing for his family, requesting the court to consider that before jailing him.

However, Mwanzia was given 14 days to appeal the case if not satisfied with the judgment
