Kilungu magistrate withdraws from the case where 21 suspects are accused of defiling a 15 year old girl


Kilungu Law Courts Senior Magistrate  Charles Mayamba Wednesday  withdrew from hearing a case where 21 Suspects have been accused of defiling a minor who is 15 years old. The judge cited his opinion in other cases saying, “it would be detrimental and against tenets of Justice for me to continue with these cases owing to documented opinion in my judgement in the other cases.” Last week Kilungu law court gave a life sentence to a man for defiling a Class 6 girl and giving her abortion pills.

Magistrate Mayamba referred the suspects to different law courts. Paul Musau will have his case mentioned on the 26th of July at Tawa law courts, Mathew Mumbu’s case is set to be mentioned at Makindu Law courts on the 24th of July 2018.The case has drawn attention of stakeholders with FIDA sending 2 lawyers to support the complainant. Makueni County Deputy Governor was also present in the court. She has been following up the case since it began and expressed her satisfaction with the running  of the case so far.

“We have lost evidence in many of this cases but we are now registering our satisfaction with the way defilement cases are being handled in Makueni.” Madam Mwau noted. The increased cases of defilement of minors in Makueni have caught the attention of different stakeholders who have called for tough action to be taken against those who participate in the inhuman act.
