Kibwezi West: Youths hold Demos over insecurity, blame MP Mutuse

Kibwezi West youths over the weekend held demonstrations over increasing cases of insecurity in the area.

The youths who staged demonstrations from Kibwezi to Makindu town claimed their MP Mwengi Mutuse moved to Nairobi and does not speak on matters affecting them like the insecurity.

According to MCA for Kikumbulyu South Kalunda wa Kalunda, they were forced to walk for more than 25 Kilometers to Makindu mortuary after one of them was killed Friday night by thugs and the police in Kibwezi town refused to take the body.

Kalunda who is also the Leader of the Minority in Makueni County Assembly says thousands of youths came in handy with the spirit of the Finance Bill and walked to Makindu on foot to take the body to the mortuary.

“One of us was killed and the police refused to take the body, as Kibwezi residents we came together and decided to bring the body to Makindu mortuary,” said Kalunda.

The MCA thanked the Makueni Governor for allowing the hospital to receive the body without an OB. He also accused the MP of bragging about his relationship with the President while not telling him about the issues affecting the people of Kibwezi West.

Kalunda alleged that over ten residents have been killed in Kibwezi and the MP has not taken any action.

“Youths in Kibwezi West are united and we are going to replace him,” stated Kalunda.

Kalunda further put on notice police officers in Kibwezi and Makindu Town who have stayed for over 20 years and are not performing.

On Sunday one person was shot by police officers in Kibwezi town as youths held demonstrations for the second day over insecurity in the area.
