Kibwana dares Makueni MCAs to impeach him over their allowances

The battle between Makueni Governor Prof. Kivutha Kibwana and MCAs seems far from over. This comes as the Governor asked the MCAs not to impeach the Finance CECM Mary Kimanzi over their allowances but instead impeach him as he is the one who instructs the CECM.

Kibwana accused the County Assembly of being used by “their leader” from Nairobi to disrupt his county. According to Kibwana if the MCAs impeach the CECM he will not hire another one or an acting one.

“They say they will impeach CECM Mary Kimanzi because he has denied them allowances. Let them impeach the Governor instead because she is my minister and cannot do anything I have not told her.” Kibwana said.

“If they want, let them impeach me, that is what they have been told by their leader in Nairobi. If they remove Mary I will not appoint another Finance CECM and I will not employ acting. We will see who will pay them the salaries and allowances.” The Governor went on.

He further accused some of the MCAs of demanding allowances improperly saying they urged them to reduce the allowances so that more resources can go to development.

Kibwana spoke at Wote where he was receiving a list of priorities for the 2021/2022 Financial Year from the County’s people’s forum which is a culmination of the budget public participation.

Makueni county Assembly staff from Monday (26th April) began working from home following a directive issued end of last week by the clerk Kelvin Mutuku citing financial constraints.
