At the 21st edition of the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) Games held at Amus College, Kwanthanze Girls were defeated by Kesogon Girls from Kitale in the volleyball finals.
Kwanthanze, the six-time champions, entered the FEASSSA Games after qualifying at the national level with high hopes of retaining their title, having established themselves as a dominant force in East African school volleyball under the leadership of their experienced coach, Justine Kigwari.
However, despite their best efforts and a strong performance throughout the tournament, they faced stiff competition from Kesogon at the finals, who were determined to dethrone the reigning champions outwitting Kwanthanze three sets to nil.
Kesogon’s victory marks a significant moment in the FEASSSA Games, as they managed to outplay the Kwanthanze team in a closely contested match. The loss brought an end to Kwanthanze’s winning streak, leaving their supporters and players to reflect on a hard-fought tournament that, despite the outcome, highlighted the high level of competition in the region.
This result has shaken up the East African school volleyball scene, as Kesogon Girls now step into the spotlight as the new champions. Kwanthanze, although disappointed, remains a formidable team with a legacy of excellence.
