Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) has announced the closure of the busy Mombasa road from Tuesday 12th November 2019 to 20th November 2019.

“KeNHA wishes to inform the general public that a section of Mombasa Road (A8) at Mlolongo will be closed between the dates of 12th November 2019 and 20th November 2019 in order to install the deck of the footbridge in Mlolongo town. Motorists heading to Nairobi and Mombasa will use the provided diversions as directed by the signs and Traffic Marshals.
We appreciate your continuous Cooperation. ” A statement by KENHA read.
The New weighbridge is just meters to the Mlolongo weighbridge and a lot of traffic is expected in the period of the closure.
Here is what some of the Kenyans had to say about the closure of the busy Mombasa road.
Thingira wa Iregi said, “That’s too long to install a footbridge. Can’t the contractor work at night as well? Traffic along mlolongo/cabanas is already depressing please don’t worsen the situation.”
Teddy Obiero said, ” 12-20th installation of a footbridge. Chinese installed a whole new dual carriage overpass at GSU, Thika Rd in a week or so. “
Simon Namiti added, ” Then you better start by suspending services at the weighbridge and clearing all vehicles on the service lanes otherwise it is going to be a total nightmare. “
