KEMRI releases results for suspected Kitui Coronavirus cases


KEMRI has released the results of 4 suspected Coronavirus cases in Kitui County.

According to a statement issued by the County Government of Kitui, a 45-year-old male, 17-year-old expectant female, a 30-year-old female and another lady 27-year-old all tested negative for Covid-19.

The Man has been discharged and allowed to join his family. The 17-year-old girl who had travelled from Eastleigh will be transferred to the Kitui Referral Hospital for management of complications from her pregnancy. The 30 year and 27-year-old female are being processed for discharge.

According to the press statement, There is also a suspected case of Covid-19 who was isolated at the county isolation centre in Kauwi level 4 hospital from Ngomeni. Samples have been taken to KEMRI laboratory in Nairobi for COVID 19 testing.

This happened a day after the Government through the Ministry of Health announced the increment of Coronavirus cases from 16 to 25, among them is Kilifi County Deputy Governor.

On Thursday last week, Kitui county leadership issued directives among them being the closure of markets, bars, birthday parties and any other kind of gathering that may exceed 10 people.
