Kelvin Kinengo beats George Ndoto with 45 votes to become Kitui Speaker

Kelvin Kinengo Katisya has been elected speaker of Kitui county after garnering 51 votes against the incumbent George Ndoto’s 6 votes.

The 30-year-old is an advocate born and raised in Tseikuru, Mwingi North. Kinengo speaking to Mauvoo News last month said that he will ensure that there is a harmonious working relationship between the Executive and the county Assembly if he is elected

Incumbent George Ndoto who has served as speaker in the last 10 years lost with a very big margin in the second round. Ndoto previously served as MP and in National Government in different capacities.

In the first round, George Mutua Ndoto got 9, Kevin Kinengo Katisya 25, Andrew Ndisya Lisa 0, Benjamin Mwikya Musyoki 8, Businessman Augustus Kyalo Muli 7, Boniface Kilaa Kasina Former Tseikuru MCA and chair of Budget and appropriation committee 6, Paul Ngula Kitungu 1, Victor Kyalo Mutua and Samson Masila 1.
